ZachNews has the latest information regarding the medical marijuana dispensary raids on Thursday, January 30th, 2014 and Friday, January 31st, 2014 in Needles, California.

According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department’s Marijuana Enforcement Team, San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Colorado River Station Deputies, and the Mojave Area General Narcotics Enforcement Teams (M.A.G.N.E.T.) in Bullhead City, Arizona and Lake Havasu City, Ariozna conducted a multi-agency investigation over the past several weeks.

Various involved subjects, marijuana dispensaries and private homes were identified, resulting in the service of 13 search warrants.

In 1996 California voters passed the Compassionate Use Act which allows for the personal use of marijuana for certain medical illnesses.

Investigators determined during their investigation that Arizona residents were purchasing marijuana from California dispensaries.

The customers were providing the owner/operator of the dispensary with a California Identification Card with a California address when they in fact, live in Arizona. In addition to selling marijuana to Arizona residents, investigators determined many of the dispensary owners and operators are also full-time residents of Arizona.

California medical marijuana laws specifically pertain to California residents only. The individuals identified through this investigation are circumventing California law by making false claims of residency. The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department frequently investigates marijuana dispensaries that are not in compliance with state laws.

On Thursday, January 30th, 2014 and Friday, January 31st, 2014, the Sheriff’s Narcotics Division Marijuana Team conducted an investigation related to the illegal sales of marijuana at multiple dispensaries and residences in the City of Needles.

On Thursday, January 30th, 2014, Detectives prepared and served a total of eight search warrants at three dispensaries and four residences in Needles, and one residence in Lake Havasu City, Arizona. Detectives seized 95 lbs. of processed marijuana, over 2,500 grams of Butane Honey Oil Wax (BHO Wax), edible marijuana products, U.S. currency and several firearms.

On Friday, January 31st, 2014, five search warrants were served at dispensaries and residences in Needles, Ca. and Bullhead, Arizona. Detectives seized 350 lbs. of processed marijuana and a large quantity of edible marijuana products.

Reports will be forwarded to the District Attorney for review of filing criminal charges. A suspect is currently being sought for the illegal possession of the firearms seized.
