Breaking News!!: Downtown Needles, CA: Man wanted in shooting arrested.
According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, at around 12:00pm PT on Tuesday, July 3rd, 2012, detectives from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department’s Colorado River Station located suspect 34 year old Michael Anthony Martinez at a residence in Needles, California.
Michael Anthony Martinez was arrested without incident and transported to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Colorado River Station jail for further investigation and booking. A firearm was not located when detectives search Martinez and the residence. The firearm remains outstanding. The investigation is continuing.
At around 2:40pm PT Monday afternoon of July 2nd, 2012, San Bernardino County Sheriff’s deputies were sent to a 911 call of a shooting at a residence in the 100 block of J Street in Downtown Needles, California.
When San Bernardino County Sheriff’s deputies arrived they found a 36 year old male suffering from a gunshot wound. Deputies learned that the suspect, 34 year old Michael Anthony Martinez drove suspect 22 year old Nathan Rubalcava to the location so Rubalcava could confront the victim over issues regarding another woman. According to witnesses, Rubalcava produced a handgun and shot the victim before fleeing a vehicle driven by Martinez.
San Bernardino County Sheriff’s deputies conducting area checks for the two suspects located the getaway vehicle at an apartment complex in Needles. Shortly after discovering the vehicle deputies arrested Rubalcava as he was leaving an apartment.
San Bernardino County Sheriff’s deputies searched the apartment, vehicle, and the surrounding area and did not find the weapon or suspect Martinez.
Michael Anthony Martinez is believed to be in the Needles, california area and possibly in possession of the firearm used to shoot the victim. He is considered armed and dangerous.
A warrant was issued for Michael Anthony Martinez on Tuesday, July 3rd, 2012 for his arrest.
Nathan Rubalcava, who is on parole, was booked at the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Colorado River Station jail for attempted murder and parole violatons. He is being held without bail due to parole status.
The victim was flown by helicopter to Sunrise Medical Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was listed in critical condition.
