Breaking News!!: Needles, CA: Brush fire burning near Jack Smith Memorial Park.

A brush fire is burning near Jack Smith Memorial Park in Needles, California.

The brush fire started before 7:00pm PT on Monday, August 13th, 2012 after lightning hit the brush landscaped area just east of Jack Smith Memorial Park

ZachNews Photojournalist Zachary A. Lopez was reporting on another news story when he spotted the brush fire and rushed over to the brush and captured these pictures of the large flames.

The dark smoke from the brush fire could be seen for miles around the Colorado River Tri-State area, including across the Colorado River in Mohave Valley, Arizona.

San Bernardino County Fire Department were seen rushing to the brush fire and reports that Jack Smith Memorial Park has been evacuated.

San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department has Jack Smith Memorial Park as well as River Road closed at Marina Drive.
