News Update!!: Highland, CA: 2 people arrested in the homicide of a child.

Authorities have arrested 2 people late Thursday, July 30th, 2015 on suspicion of fatally shooting a 4 year old boy in Highland, California while he was playing with his stuffed animal.

According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, the suspects have been identified as 20 year old Darron Daniels of Moreno Valley, California and 25 year old Maurice Kelley of San Bernardino, California for 1 count of murder (P.C. 187) and 2 counts of attempted murder (P.C. 664/187).

Darron Daniels and Maurice Kelley were booked at Central Detention Center in San Bernardino, California where they are currently being held on $1,000,000.00 bail each.

“Children are innocent. It sets in us a certain sense of urgency to find out who did this, who’s responsible and bring them to justice,” said Adam Cervantes with the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.

The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department thanked the public and the media for their help in their search for the shooters in this deadly shooting.

According to authorities, it’s still unclear if this shooting case was gang related.

According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, at 8:28pm PT on Wednesday, July 29th, 2015, deputies from the Highland Police Department responded to a report of shots heard in the 7400 block of McKinley Street, in Highland, California. Upon arrival they discovered the victim, identified as 4 year old Daniel Muñoz, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. The child was transported to a local area hospital where he was pronounced deceased. The child was with cousins and an aunts in a front yard when he was fatally wounded.

ZachNews received this cellular phone video of a man who got trapped inside his truck after power lines came down on his truck.

This incident happened at 5:00pm PT on Thursday, July 30th, 2015 along Oak Glen Road in Beaumont, California.

The video, filmed by Don Bradley and sent to ZachNews courtesy of NBC affiliate KNBC Channel 4, shows a police department vehicle blocking the road and a power line laying on the driver side mirror of his truck.

Don Bradley, seen in this picture next to his Ford red truck, was driving home in his 2 week old new truck when he was slammed by golf ball size hail and lightning stuck a power pole next to him knocking the power pole down.

Don Bradley was not injured, but had to be rescued by Southern California Edison Workers.

The 2 week old truck suffered major damage due to the hail.

News Update!!: Highland, CA: Search continues for “Person of Interest” in the homicide of a child.

Authorities continue to search for a “Person of Interest” in the homicide of a child who was killed by a gunshot well playing in his neighborhood in Highland, California.

According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, at 8:28pm PT on Wednesday, July 29th, 2015, deputies from the Highland Police Department responded to a report of shots heard in the 7400 block of McKinley Street, in Highland, California. Upon arrival they discovered the victim, identified as 4 year old Daniel Muñoz, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. The child was transported to a local area hospital where he was pronounced deceased. The child was with cousins and an aunts in a front yard when he was fatally wounded.

The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department began a search for the shooter or shooters who shot at least 12 gunshots in the neighborhood.

Investigators from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department’s Specialized Investigations Division, Homicide Detail responded to the scene and are conducting the investigation.

According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, investigators have identified a person of interest, described as a Hispanic male, early 20’s, 5’8” to 5’11, 160 – 180 pounds, and are asking anyone who may have been in or around the area to contact investigators. Investigators are also looking for a 1990’s, 4 door Toyota Camry, white in color with black bumpers on the front and back.

The National Weather Service in Las Vegas, Nevada has issued a Dust Storm Warning until Thursday, July 30th, 2015 at 9:00pm PT for central and southern San Bernardino County in California including the Twentynine Palms, California and communities west of Twentynine Palms, California.

Dust reportedly is blowing west away from Twentynine Palms, California and the Dust Storm Warning includes the communities of Baker, California; Mountain Pass, California; Mitchell Caverns, California; Morongo Valley, California; and Yucca Valley, California.

If the storm decreases and no dust storm issues are happening, the Dust Storm Warning will then expire after the noted time.
