According to the Los Angeles Police Department Caption William P. Hayes, they found gasoline cans in the car, which did not appear nefarious, along with a handgun.

Authorities found no financial records from his trip, so it is believed he used cash to make the drive.

The Los Angeles Police Department Police identified the gunman as 38 year old Mainak Sarkar, a former doctoral student who shot and killed a UCLA professor.

Authorities are saying that the gunman had a “kill list” that included the names of the instructor, a woman found dead Thursday morning in Minnesota and a second professor.

According to Los Angeles Police Department Chief Charlie Beck, there’s a “strong” connection between Mainak Sarkar and a gunshot victim found dead in Minnesota.

Information was recovered at the gunman’s Minnesota residence that led authorities to believe Mainak Sarkar is linked to the woman’s death.

The names of the deceased woman, Klug’s, and a third individual reportedly another U.C.L.A. professor were found on the “kill list” at the gunman’s home.

The second professor was not on the campus at the time of the shooting.

According to Los Angeles Police Department Chief Charlie Beck, “It was a list that made the readers believe that it was a list of people that he was going to kill and, she was on that list. He was certainly prepared to engage multiple victims.”

The woman was found early on the morning of Thursday, June 2nd 2016 after a call from Los Angeles Police Department investigators who were following up on information found in a note located near the bodies of Klug and Sarkar.

The note that was found near the bodies inside the office asked authorities to check on Sarkar’s cat at his home in Minnesota which led authorities to a nearby home where they found the woman shot dead.

Authorities in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota said that the slaying appeared to have occurred before the murder-suicide U.C.L.A.

At this moment, authorities don’t have information about the relationship between the woman and Sarkar.

Authorities are continuing their search for a 2003 gray Nissan Sentra with Minnesota license plate 720 KTW.

Authorities say Mainak Sarkar drove the vehicle from Minnesota to Los Angeles, California with 2 handguns and rounds of ammunition that included several magazines, and might contain evidence to help investigators establish a motive.
