News Update!!: Needles, CA: Annexation into San Bernardino County Fire District and parcel tax both passed.

ZachNews has received information on the protest hearing regarding the City of Needles annexation into the San Bernardino County Fire District.

According to Needles Vice Manager Jeff Williams, there were not enough protest votes to stop the City of Needles from annexation into the San Bernardino County Fire District and a parcel tax to help pay for the cost of being in the San Bernardino County Fire District passed.

Needles Vice Manager Jeff Williams tells ZachNews that the Parcel tax does not add to the amount paid to San Bernardino Fire the city still pays the $604,000 out of the general fund but the parcel tax will off set some of this cost out of the general fund only costing the general fund around half the $204,000.

The protest hearing, which was held on Wednesday, June 22nd, 2016 inside the El Garces Train Depot in Downtown Needles, California, was to hear and receive any oral or written protests, objections or evidence which are made, presented or filed in regards to the annexation into the San Bernardino County Fire District.

There are 2 portions property owners can protest; the annexation itself and the possible parcel tax being sought to help pay for the cost of being in the San Bernardino County Fire District.

Any registered voter or owner of land within the area proposed to be annexed into the San Bernardino County Fire District may file an official protest.
