California: Independence Day 2016 Maximum Enforcement Period.

According to the California Highway Patrol, at least 35 people were killed in traffic collisions in California during the 78 hour Independence Day 2016 Maximum Enforcement Period that began at 6:00pm PT on Friday, July 1st, 2016.

At least 65% of the vehicle occupants killed within California Highway Patrol jurisdiction during the holiday weekend were not wearing a seat belt. 

The California Highway Patrol removed 1,118 impaired drivers from California’s roadways during the recent 78 hour Independence Day 2016 Maximum Enforcement Period.

The California Highway Patrol reminds the public to pay attention to the road, obey the speed limits, don’t text and drive, always wear your seat belt, and don’t drink and drive.
