Colorado River Tri-State: Independence Day Weekend 2016 Marine Enforcement Operation.

According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, deputies with the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department’s Colorado River Station Marine Enforcement Unit conducted it’s 4th of July Weekend Operation for 2016 starting on Friday, July 1st, 2016 through Monday, July 4th , 2016. 

The operation was conducted along the Colorado River from the California/Nevada state line to the county line for Riverside County, California.

The majority of the operation was focused on the waterways along with resorts, launch ramps and marinas along the Colorado River and Lake Havasu. 

A total of 10 patrol vessels, a Rescue Dive Team, 2 Gang Enforcement Teams, an OHV team and a San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department helicopter team were deployed throughout the area.

A total of 15 people were arrested, 10 of which were for Boating Under the Influence. 

At least 45 people were issued citations for various boating law violations. 

The majority of the citations written involved carriage equipment violations and reckless/negligent boat operation. 

A total of 4 boating accidents were investigated by the Colorado River Station’s Boating Accident Investigation Team that varied from minor to majory injury accidents. 

The Colorado River Station Marine Enforcement Unit is dedictaed to providing a safe boating atmosphere for the public and always urges everyone to boat sober and wear their life jackets.
