Breaking News!!: Essex, CA: Fatal traffic accident on eastbound Interstate 40.
There has been a fatal traffic accident with extrication along eastbound Interstate 40 near, near Essex Road, in Essex, California.
The fatal traffic accident occurred at around 10:02am PT on Wednesday, July 27th, 2016 in a construction zone where traffic westbound were sharing a lane on the eastbound side detouring around the construction zone.
Initial reports are that the 2 vehicles collided into each other crossing road barriers separating eastbound and westbound traffic.
According to the San Bernardino County Fire Department, firefighters responded to the traffic accident with extrication involving a vehicle and semi truck.
Both the semi truck and vehicle, a Sedan, are blocking lanes.
California Highway Patrol is at the scene of the traffic accident.
According to the San Bernardino County Fire Department, there’s a confirmed fatality in this traffic accident.
An investigation into the fatal traffic accident is happening and first responders are awaiting coroner’s office to arrive.
A “SigAlert” has been issued in the area of the fatal traffic accident as lanes are closed and traffic is backed up for miles.
The “SigAlert” and lane closures could last for at least 2 hours.
Motorists are being asked to use Route 66 (National Trails Highway) as an alternate route around the fatal traffic accident.
