Needles, CA: Driver arrested of a stolen car.

 

According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, at around 5:00am PT on Wednesday, August 31st, 2016, deputies saw a vehicle parked off the roadway in a wash along Highway 95 and Spikes Road in Needles, California and conducted a safety check.

 

Deputies found 32 year old Dana Michelle Litchfield from Needles, California inside the vehicle and that the vehicle had been reported stolen.

 

Dana Michelle Litchfield was arrested without incident and booked into the Colorado River Station jail with bail set at $25,000.

 

The vehicle was recovered and stored pending contact with the owner.

Downtown Needles, CA: Suspect arrested for possession of a gun and heroin.

 

According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, at 12:00am PT on Wednesday, August 31st, 2016, deputies from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department’s Colorado River Station observed a male identified as 27 year old Andrew David Muehlhausen from Needles, California, walking in a business parking lot near F Street and West Broadway in Downtown Needles, California with another subject.

 

Deputies approached the subjects and Andrew David Muehlhausen was seen throwing an object into nearby bushes.

 

The deputies recovered a handgun.

 

Andrew David Muehlhausen also had a small amount of heroin.

 

Andrew David Muehlhausen was arrested and booked into the Colorado River Station jail with bail set at $50,000.

Breaking News!!: Needles, CA: Down powerline caused small fire and power outage.

 

A powerline fell onto some vegetation near a home off the 1500 block of Highland Avenue, near Park Avenue and just next to Needles High School, in Needles, California at around 5:00pm PT on Tuesday, August 31st, 2016.

This is a picture sent into ZachNews by Dante Diaz of Needles, California on the fire from the down powerline.

 

The resident of the home, Dante Diaz, tells ZachNews that the powerline just fell onto the street and onto the vegetation catching on fire.

 

 

San Bernardino County Fire Department arrived to put out the small fire and kept the fire from spreading.

 

 

Power was out to some residents including along Lilyhill Drive for 30 minutes utility crews from the City of Needles came in and quickly restored the downed powerline restoring power.

 

 

Dante Diaz later tells ZachNews that this is the second time in this area that a powerline just fell.

A series of envisioning sessions will enable the public to provide comments on specific interests and concerns that will assist the Bureau of Land Management in the development of the Mojave Trails National Monument Management Plan located in the Mojave Desert of San Bernardino County, California.

The Bureau of Land Management will work collaboratively with the public, cooperating agencies, and partners to begin identifying the vision for the planning area and key management priorities to be addressed in the upcoming draft monument management plan.

The sessions will be open house format with the same kind of information provided at each location.

These are pictures taken by ZachNews Photojournalist Zachary A. Lopez of damage found at the Needles Airport in Needles, California caused by the very powerful thunderstorm that blew through Needles, California at around 9:44pm PT on Friday, August 26th, 2016.

Several buildings were damaged, including a trailer near the entrance to Needles Airport flipped upside down and smashed to pieces well near by another trailer was blown off its foundation.

 

A pickup truck was smashed by a tree branch well were ripped down.

 

Debris was seen entering Needles Airport over a football field length away.

 

Pieces of sheet metal from a hanger lay along the northwest side of the entree road into Needles Airport.

 

On the southeast side of the entree road into Needles Airport, a tail section of a plane, possibly a Navion aircraft, was sheared off and laying in the desert.

 

Needles Airport was operating on backup power generators until power poles were replaced.

Information obtain from the National Weather Service website shows winds at Needles Airport were over 80 mph with gust as high as possibly 132 mph.

A powerful thunderstorm has blown through the community of Needles, California at around 9:44pm PT on Friday, August 26th, 2016.

 

 

The powerful thunderstorm brought very strong winds over 80 mph well blowing dust, down pouring rain and 1/4″ hail, and brought lots of loud thunder with big flashes of lightning over the community.

There’s reports of damage to planes and structures at the Needles Airport in Needles, California.

 

 

A power outage has occurred around a Lilyhill Drive and San Clemente Street area, but has seen been restored.

 

 

ZachNews Photojournalist Zachary A. Lopez has checked around the Downtown Needles, California area and so far, other then a few roofing shingles, no major damages have been found.

 

 

San Bernardino County Fire Department was seen Cibola Street near A Street check on a home to a report of a fire, but no smoke or flames seen.

 

 

There is reports of flooding along the roadways of Needles Highway between Park Boulevard and the Nevada State Line as well as along Route 66 between Amboy, California and Goffs, California; Highway 95 between Interstate 40 and the Nevada State Line; and Highway 95 between Needles, California and Vidal Junction,  California.

 

Do not drive through flooded roadways if you find a flooded roadway.

 

 

San Bernardino County Fire Department as well as San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department are continuing to drive around the community checking for any damages.

Weather radar from the National Weather Service is showing scattered thunderstorms approaching the Needles, California.

Thunder and lightning is seen to the south of Lilyhill Drive.

The scattered thunderstorms appear to be moving northeast and east.

In case of any weather related advisories, watches, and warnings, people near the thunderstorms, around Needles, California as well as Mohave Valley, Arizona and Topock, Arizona, should be on watch and already be prepared in case weather conditions get severe.

Motorists should drive safely on the roads, highways, and interstates.

If flooding occurs in your area, please do not cross flooded creeks, channels, or rivers.

Beware of the usual flooding areas, including the K Street Underpass in Downtown Needles, California; Needles Highway between Interstate 40 to the Nevada State Line; Highway 95 between Needles, California to Vidal Junction, California; and Route 66 between Needles, California to Newberry Springs, California.
