News Alert!!: Mohave Valley, AZ: Drowning near Willow Valley Marina.
According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, on Tuesday, August 9th, 2016, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department’s Dive Rescue Team was requested by the Fort Mohave Tribal Police Department for assistance in searching for a drowning victim.
At about 6:17pm PT on Monday, August 8th, 2016, Tribal Police received a call of a 20 year old male who was last seen attempting to swim across the Colorado River, approximately 2 miles North of Willow Valley Marina in Mohave Valley, Arizona.
Dive Team members arrived at Willow Valley Marina on Tuesday at 7:00am PT and conducted a briefing with Mohave County Fire Department, Fort Mohave Tribal Police, and Bullhead City Fire Departments.
Arizona Department of Public Safety assisted with a patrol helicopter (DPS Ranger 1.).
San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department’s Dive Team members entered the water at 8:12am PT to conduct the first of six drift dives.
At 10:53am PT, the victim was located at a depth of twelve feet.
The location of the body was marked with a marker buoy and coordination was made Bullhead City’s fire boat for transportation.
The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department has identified the victim as 20 years old Micheal Galvers of Fort Mohave, Arizona.
At 11:13am PT, the victim was brought to the surface by Divers Bengard and Caronna and then transported to Willow Valley Marina and released to the Mohave County Medical Examiner.
