Newberry Springs, CA: Homicide investigation with suspect in police custody.

According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, at approximately 4:05pm PT on Thursday, August 11th, 2016, deputies from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department’s Barstow Station responded to the report of a shooting in the 30000 block of Harvard Road in Newberry Springs, California.

Upon arrival, deputies made contact with the suspect, identified by the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department as 54 year old June Popiolek from Newberry Springs, California, in front of the residence. 

Deputies located the victim, identified by the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department as 53 year old David Jay Popiolek from Newberry Springs, California, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. 

Emergency medical personnel arrived on scene and pronounced David Jay Popiolek deceased. 

Detectives from the Sheriff’s Specialized Investigations Division – Homicide Detail responded to the location to conduct the investigation. 

June Popiolek was arrested for P.C. 187 Murder and booked into the West Valley Detention Center.
