News Update!!: Needles, CA: Pictures: Damage at the Needles Airport from powerful thunderstorm.

 

These are pictures taken by ZachNews Photojournalist Zachary A. Lopez of damage found at the Needles Airport in Needles, California caused by the very powerful thunderstorm that blew through Needles, California at around 9:44pm PT on Friday, August 26th, 2016.

Several buildings were damaged, including a trailer near the entrance to Needles Airport flipped upside down and smashed to pieces well near by another trailer was blown off its foundation.

 

A pickup truck was smashed by a tree branch well were ripped down.

 

Debris was seen entering Needles Airport over a football field length away.

 

Pieces of sheet metal from a hanger lay along the northwest side of the entree road into Needles Airport.

 

On the southeast side of the entree road into Needles Airport, a tail section of a plane, possibly a Navion aircraft, was sheared off and laying in the desert.

 

Needles Airport was operating on backup power generators until power poles were replaced.

Information obtain from the National Weather Service website shows winds at Needles Airport were over 80 mph with gust as high as possibly 132 mph.

 

 

ZachNews is awaiting more information from the National Weather Service about the powerful thunderstorm and about the high winds that blow through the Needles Airport.
