Needles, CA: San Bernardino County Fire Station 32 Grand Opening.
San Bernardino County Fire Station 32 in Needles, California is progressing well and the grand opening is scheduled for 10:00am PT on Monday, October 31st, 2016.
Recently, the City of Needles annexed into the San Bernardino County Fire District.
What this means is that the Needles City Council voted to turn over fire protection powers to the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors.
This new station in Needles, California will replace the current station located at 633 Front Street in Downtown Needles, California which was built in the 1950’s.
The current station no longer meets the needs of the community or the firefighters.
Some of the features of this new fire station include separate dorms.
This is important because we have several female firefighters employed by San Bernardino County Fire Department.
A state of the art fitness room will allow the crew to maintain physical fitness.
A Plymovent exhaust removal system in the apparatus bay will allow fire engine exhaust to be removed from the station.
Engine exhaust contains carcinogens which are known to cause cancer.
This station will be A.D.A. compliant and also contain two large swamp coolers which will keep the engine bay cool.
Moderating the air temperature in the apparatus bay is important when outside temperatures can exceed 120 degrees in the summer months and has a damaging effect on sensitive equipment and medications carried on our apparatus.
Daily DMV preventative maintenance can also be performed in the comfort of the engine bay as well as routine equipment maintenance.
This upgrade to public safety in the City of Needles is possible thanks to the support of the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors and in particular 1st District Supervisor Robert Lovingood.
Fire Station 32 is fully funded by the County at the tune of 3.5 million dollars and will be staffed with a 3 person paramedic engine which fully equipped costs approximately $700,000 dollars.
See you all at the grand opening of the San Bernardino County Fire Station 32 located at 100 Safari Drive in Needles, California.
