Needles, CA: Assault with a deadly weapon.
According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, at approximately 5:24pm PT on Saturday, September 10th, 2016, deputies from the Colorado River Station responded to the 2000 block of Flora Vista in Needles, California, reference a male subject bleeding with an AR15.
While enroute to the call, deputies were advised the subject may have killed a family member.
Deputies made contact with 26 year old Nicholas W. Bedell from Needles, California, who came out of a residence bleeding, unarmed and challenging deputies to shoot him.
Nicholas W. Bedell was detained and taken into custody without incident.
While conducting a safety check of the residence a juvenile was found unharmed.
Deputies also located body armor and a black highpoint 45 caliber semi-automatic rifle.
Further investigation determined Nicholas W. Bedell and the victim had a verbal argument.
Nicholas W. Bedell returned to his residence to put on body armor and retrieve a firearm.
Nicholas W. Bedell engaged the victim, aiming his firearm at the victims chest, which caused the victim to throw a glass at Nicholas W Bedell and take cover within another residence.
Nicholas W. Bedell was arrested and transported to the Colorado River Station jail for booking.
