San Bernardino County, CA: Veterans Day 2016.

People across the United States of America will be thanking and showing respect to all of the men and women veterans who have served in our military on Veterans Day 2016 which will be observed on Friday, November 11th, 2016.

Veterans Day is an official United States of America public holiday, observed annually on November 11, that honors military veterans who served in the United States Armed Forces.

Ceremonies and events are planned across San Bernardino County, California for Veterans Day 2016.

Apple Valley, California:

Rock Springs Retirement Community will host a Veterans Day celebration from 11:30am to 12:30pm PT on Friday inside the Rock Springs Retirement Community, located at 20594 Bear Valley Road.

Barstow, California: 

Mountain View Memorial Park will be holding a tribute ceremony to those who’ve fought in the Armed Services, including those who died during wartime.

The ceremony will start at 11:00am PT on Friday at Mountain View Memorial Park, located at 37607 Irwin Road.

The Disabled American Veterans Bruce Patterson Chapter 68 will be represented by Adjutant Glen A. Pearl Sr. The Bruce Patterson Chapter 68 honors Bruce Patterson, the first military member from the Barstow, California area to be killed in the Vietnam War.

Speakers at the ceremony will include Maj. Gen. Joseph Martin, National Training Center and Fort Irwin Commanding General, and Barstow Mayor Julie Hackbarth-McIntyre.

There will also be a special presentation to Gold Star Mothers.

Gold Star families are those who lost family members during wartime.

Additionally, several Barstow, California area organizations will present wreaths to be on display during the ceremony in honor of Veterans Day.

There will be water and other refreshments served during the ceremony.

 

 

Big Bear, California:

The American Legion Big Bear Post will be hosting a Veteran’s Day Ceremony on Friday at the Big Bear Convention Center, located at 42900 Big Bear Boulevard.

Doors open at 10:30am PT and the ceremony starts at 11:00am PT.

The American Legion’s Color Guard will post the colors of each of America’s services, and veterans will be invited to stand with the flags of their branch of service.

All residents are invited to join with the American Legion and City of Big Bear Officials in this annual recognition of America’s veterans.

Colton, California:

A prayer ceremony will be held at 8:00am PT on Friday at Veterans Park, located at 292 East O Street.

A parade will be held starting at 9:30am PT on Friday at O Street and running along North La Cadena Drive.

A ceremony will take starting at 11:11am PT on Friday at Fleming Park, located at 252 North La Cadena Drive.

A reception and autographs by veterans will be held at 12:00pm PT on Friday at the Colton Women’s Club located at 295 N. Seventh Street.

An open houses events will take place from 2:00pm to 9:00pm PT on Friday the at American Legion Post 155, located at 1401 Veterans Way and at the Veterans of Foreign Wars located at 1789 North Eighth St.

Fontana, California:

City of Fontana Officials and local veterans groups will be holding an event celebrating those who have fought and still are fighting for freedom.

The event starts at 11:00am PT on Friday and will be held at Fontana Memorial Rose Garden, located at 16830 Spring Street.

The event will include multiple speakers, refreshments and much more.

Hesperia, California:

The Hesperia Recreation and Park District and the AMVETS will host a ceremony of remembrance in honor of Veterans Day starting at 11:00am PT on Friday at Hesperia Lake Park,  located at 7500 Arrowhead Lake Road.

The public, veterans, and their family members are encouraged to attend.

Rancho Cucamonga, California:

The Rancho Cucamonga Fire Department, Kiwanis Club of Rancho Cucamonga, Oakmont at San Antonio Heights, and Sandy Calcida of Align Insurance will honor the military veterans from 9:00am to 12:00pm PT on Friday at Central Park, located at 11200 Base Line Road.

A free pancake breakfast will take place from 9:00am to 10:30am PT followed by a celebration for military veterans.

Redlands, California:

City of Redlands Officials will honor its veterans with events from 9:00am to 2:00pm PT on Friday with a celebration starting at 9:00am PT with a parade from Citrus Avenue in front of Redlands High School to Jennie Davis Park.

After the parade ends, a family-friendly celebration will start at approximately 10:45am PT with government leaders, airplane flyovers, military vehicle displays, food trucks, beer garden, kid zone and more.

The ceremony will be conducted by the American Legion and will feature guest speaker Barbara Fallon, director of the Loma Linda Veterans Administration Health System.

Jennie Davis Park is located at the intersection of New York Street and Redlands Boulevard.

San Bernardino, California:

City of San Bernardino Officials and the Suavesitos Car Club will host its 16th Annual Veterans Day Salute and Parade on Friday.

The parade will start at 11:00am PT at 14th Street and Mt. Vernon and ends at La Plaza Park.

Following the parade, there will be displays of drill teams, marching bands, military vehicles and much more.

Upland, California:

In honor of all veterans from all eras, a parade and ceremony will be held on Friday.

The parade begins at 10:30am PT and a ceremony will begin at 11:00am PT at Upland Veterans Plaza, located at 460 North Euclid Avenue.

The ceremony will have a barbecue and music.

The ceremony will also have a special commemoration for Vietnam veterans, recognizing 50 years since that costly war.

Victorville, California:

The Freedom Mile Run will be held at 8:55am PT on Friday in old town area.

The Freedom Mile Run is a mile-long run and will serve as the kick-off for the 20th Anniversary Veterans Day Parade and Ceremony.

Registration for the run will start at 8:15am PT at the corner of Seventh Street and Forrest Avenue.

The first 100 runners registered will receive a free commemorative race bib.

Participation in the Freedom Mile Run is free.

The 20th Anniversary Veterans Day Parade and Ceremony will be held from 9:00am to 11am PT on Friday also in old town area.

The Parade route begins at Tracy and Seventh Streets.

The Ceremony will begin immediately follows the Parade at Seventh Street and Forrest Avenue.

The ceremony will feature a special salute to Victorville veterans including personal recognition for more than 70 Victorville Veterans.

Wrightwood, California:

Veterans Memorial Center Veterans, family members, and the community will gather at 11:00am PT on Friday for the Veterans Day Ceremony at the Wrightwood Veterans Memorial, located at 1274 Evergreen Road.

This event will feature the Missing Man Table and Honors Ceremony, paying tribute and respect for those military members who have not returned or are still listed as missing in action.

A table setting that awaits the veterans’ return will be placed near the memorial and the meaning and background will be presented by Harlan Lassiter, a member of the Veterans Committee.

Yucca Valley, California: 

The public is invited to the Morongo Basin Veterans’ Day Tribute event starting at 10:00am PT on Friday at the Yucca Valley Community Center, located at 57090 Twentynine Palms Highway.

The keynote address at the event will be by Twentynine Palms Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center Commanding General, Brigadier General, and William F. Mullen, III.

Breakfast served by the Young Marines (Free for Public Safety and Veterans, and Military).

A community barbecue will be served by the Yucca Valley Elks.

Highly acclaimed flag folding ceremony performed by the Young Marines.

Military and Public Safety Equipment will be on display during the event.
