At around 4:00pm PT on Tuesday, August 12th, 2014, the roof of the popular eatery blew off during a powerful microburst that hit Needles, California.

Nobody was injured at the Burger Hut eatery, but because of the damage, the popular eatery had to close down and has been closed for over 2 years.

Blueprints were seen and permits were issued in July 2016 allowing the rehab of the property, leading to construction work to slowly be done on this popular eatery where classic vehicles would drive up and show off their cars and trucks well enjoying great food as well as a place that loved putting on specials and events to show their support for the community, especially if relates to Route 66 and the Needles Mustangs.

No official date of completion has been set yet, but when an official date is set, they will make sure to let everybody know and all of their favorite burgers and milkshakes that they all grew up enjoying.

Unclear if the popular ghosts pepper chili burrito, with Bhut Jolokia (Ghost Peppers) and other hot peppers, which was sold at the popular eatery.

Anybody daring to eat the whole ghosts pepper chili burrito without drinking anything got their meal free, got free ice cream, and was to be place on a name wall for surviving the challenge.

Only 4 people, including ZachNews Photojournalist Zachary A. Lopez, were able to complete and survive the challenge before the list of names were washed and blown away by the powerful microburst.

We all hope that this popular eatery returns and reopens soon.
