Breaking News!!: Downtown San Antonio, TX: Suspect in the murder of a San Antonio Police Department Detective arrested.

The suspect in connection with the murder of San Antonio Police Department Detective Benjamin Marconi has been arrested on Monday, November 21st, 2016.

According to the San Antonio Police Department, at around 3:45pm CT, 31 year old Otis Tyrone McKane was arrested at Highway 1516 and Interstate 10 at the Converse exit.

Officers were following the vehicle after a warrant was issued for Otis Tyrone McKane’s arrest.

Otis Tyrone McKane was arrested without incident.

“This is the person’s whose image we saw on surveillance. This is also the person we believe is responsible for the cold and calculated murder of Detective Marconi,” said San Antonio Police Department Chief William McManus.

A woman and a baby were also in the vehicle at the time of the arrest.

According to the San Antonio Police Department, an officer was shot and killed outside the headquarters of the San Antonio Police Department in Downtown San Antonio, Texas at about 11:40am CT on Sunday, November 20th, 2016.

The officer had pulled over a driver for a traffic infraction near the headquarters of the San Antonio Police Department off of South Santa Rosa and West Nueva.

As the officer was in his car writing up the ticket, a black vehicle pulled up behind his patrol vehicle.

The suspect exited his vehicle, walked up to the driver’s window of the patrol vehicle and fired once, shooting the officer in the head.

He reached in again, and fired a second time.

The suspect then returned to his vehicle, drove through the police parking lot and left the scene.

According to the San Antonio Police Department Chief William McManus, the officer has been identified as 50 year old Benjamin Marconi, a 20 year veteran.

The officer was rushed to San Antonio Military Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
