Pearl Harbor, HI: Remembering the Attack on Pearl Harbor 75 years ago.

Just before 8:00am HST on Sunday, December 7th, 1941, Japanese fighter bombers and torpedo planes staged a sneak attack on the United States Naval Base at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.

The attack destroyed nearly 20 American naval vessels, including 8 enormous battleships and almost 200 airplanes, and killed more than 2,000 Americans soldiers and sailors as well as wounded 1,000 people.

A day after the attack on Pearl Harbor, the United States declared war on Japan and entered World War 2.

In a speech to United States Congress, United States President Franklin Roosevelt stated that the bombing of Pearl Harbor is, “A date which will live in infamy.”

People will be observing the 75th Anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor all across the United States of America on Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day which is on Wednesday, December 7th, 2016 with ceremonies honoring the men and women who lost their lives in the attack on Pearl Harbor.
