Breaking News!!: Buena Park, CA: Riders being rescue off of the Sky Cabin ride at Knott’s Berry Farm.
Riders are being rescue off of the Knott’s Berry Farm’s Sky Cabin in Buena Park, California after the ride got stuck on Friday, December 30th, 2016.
The ride was reported stuck at 5:00pm PT to the Orange County Fire Authority, but riders say that they had been stuck for at least 4 hours.
A spokesman for Knott’s Berry Farm confirmed to NBC affiliate KNBC Channel 4 that the ride broke down at 2:00pm PT and that their maintenance team made several attempts to bring the ride down before calling fire authorities hours later.

Firefighters from the Orange County Fire Authority attempted a rescue operation to lower reportedly 20 people, including several children and a park employee, down to the ground from the ride stuck 120 feet.

Knott’s Berry Farm has to be closed as the rescue operation was conducted.
Riders were fitted with a harness and lowered to safety to the ground at around 7:00pm PT.
As the first rider was lowered down, a child, a call was heard made by park officials to have 10 cotton candies ready for children once they were lowered to the ground.
At around 10:00pm PT, the final rider was rescued from the ride.
As the 8 hour ordeal came to an end, Knott’s Berry Farm tweeted that all riders, 20 park visitors and a employee, were safe.
The park employee said to NBC affiliate KNBC Channel 4 that a main brake was activated and could not be released.
Park officials say that the Sky Cabin ride will be closed until the cause of the incident is solved.
