Needles City Manager Rick Daniels spoke to members of the Needles Board of Public Utilities about a variety of topics.

Needles City Manager Rick Daniels talked about the Needles City Council voting at their next meeting (Tuesday, February 14th, 2017) on the renaming of the Bush Street Station to honor William (Bill) Yoney.

During the Needles City Council and Needles Public Utility Authority Meeting held on Tuesday, January 10th, 2017, Needles City Council Member Shawn Gudmundson talked about a long time former employee of the City of Needles, who about a year ago passed away, and helped all of us in keeping the electricity.

What a prefect time for as the City builds a new Bush Street Station, to honor William (Bill) Yoney by naming the substation after him.

A couple of the utility employees with the City of Needles came up to Shawn Gudmundson with the idea of naming the substation after William (Bill) Yoney and Needles City Council Member Shawn Gudmundson agreed with them on naming the substation.

Needles City Council Member Shawn Gudmundson tells ZachNews that William (Bill) Yoney was a lineman for the City of Needles’ Power Department.

Needles Board of Public Utilities Member Tom Darcy asked about the fire hydrants on J Street near Coronado Street and what’s happening to those covered fire hydrants.

The discussion regarding broken fire hydrants after 3 residential fires occurred in Needles, California within the last 2 weeks.

A fire occurred just before 6:00am PT on Sunday, January 29th, 2017 to a home located at 203 Market Street in Needles, California.

The cause of that fire is still under investigation.

An arson fire occurred at around 5:20am PT on Monday, January 30th, 2017 at Building #9 at the Riverview Terrace Apartments, located on 1933 Erin Drive, near Coronado Street (Just south of J Street), in Needles, California.

Hours after the Needles Board of Public Utilities Meeting, another arson fire occurred at around 5:16am PT on Wednesday, February 8th, 2017 at a vacant home on the 2000 block of Flora Vista, near Coronado Street (Just 2 blocks south of J Street), in Needles, California.

San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department have arrested a suspect in the arson fire at the Riverview Terrace Apartments and a suspect in the arson fire on Flora Vista.

Members of the Needles Board of Public Utilities then talked about utility rates and operating cost in the future.

Later, Needles City Manager Rick Daniels talked to members of the Needles Board of Public Utilities about earthquake and a meeting that City of Needles Mayor Edward T. Paget had with Lucy Jones, well known seismologist and earthquake science.

City of Needles Mayor Edward T. Paget talked about his meeting with Lucy Jones and what was talked about at that meeting regarding earthquake and what the community of Needles, California should know and do.
