Traffic Update!!: Cajon Pass, CA: Clean up and removal work begins after powerful storm washes away part of southbound Interstate 15 and fire engine.

Clean up  and removal work has began where the powerful storm that brought heavy rain to southern California washed away part of southbound Interstate 15 just south of State Route 138 in Cajon Pass, California taking also away a San Bernardino County Fire Department fire engine.

The incident happened along the #5 lane of the southbound Interstate 15 just after 8:00pm PT on Friday, February 17th, 2017.

These pictures from Caltrans District 8 show the aftermath damage from the powerful storm did along southbound Interstate 15.

Caltrans crews are assessing damage to loss a 200 sq foot and 30 feet deep portion of southbound Interstate 15.

Towing crews began removing the San Bernardino County Fire Department fire engine that fell off the edge as well as another a semi truck.

Before falling over, the San Bernardino County Fire Department fire engine was in route to a semi truck that went over the side of the roadway.

The San Bernardino County Fire Department fire engine was considered a total loss.

The San Bernardino County Fire Department fire engine cost around $600,000 and had $100,000 worth of equipment.

According to the San Bernardino County Fire Department, no serious injuries were reported and all of the firefighters were safely out of the fire engine.
