Dave Hayes was a long time resident of Fort Mohave, Arizona and was the former owner of KTOX 1340AM in Needles, California and hosted a morning talk program called ‘Don’t Start Me Talking’ with Frank Costigan, a former L.A.X. Police Department Chief.

Frank Costigan and Dave Hayes made a great team discussing local politics around the Colorado River Tri-State as well as reporting on news and investigations that were going on in the community, including corruption inside local governments and law enforcement as well as what events were going on around the community, including the Needles Centennial Celebration.

On Tuesday, June 18th, 2013, ZachNews Photojournalist Zachary A. Lopez was at KTOX 1340AM when Dave Hayes interviewed Robert and Lana Shaw on “Don’t Start Me Talking” talking about the Needles Centennial Celebration.

In late 2012, ZachNews Photojournalist Zachary A. Lopez met Dave Hayes and was invited to the KTOX 1340AM radio station and was very interested in the work I was doing independently reporting on local and and events.

I met Dave Hayes years ago after he heard about ZachNews. Dave Hayes invited me several times over to the station showing me how a radio station works. Dave Hayes worked hard behind the scenes to keep the radio station running so that the community can have a radio platform to have them be heard,” said ZachNews Owner and Photojournalist Zachary A. Lopez.

Later, ZachNews got to be on the radio with Dave Hayes, Frank Costigan, and even Bob Moore during ‘Don’t Start Me Talking’ to reporting on what was going on in Needles, California.

“Dave Hayes valued the work I was doing in the community and over the few months, I gwas invited onto his radio program to report on local news and events happening in the community. Thanks to Dave Hayes, ZachNews got people noticing the work I was doing in the community,” said ZachNews Owner and Photojournalist Zachary A. Lopez.
