News Update!!: Saint Petersburg, Russia: Latest Information: Deadly Bombing Attack inside the Saint Petersburg Metro.

Authorities and investigators in Russia have identified the suspect in a deadly bombing attack inside the Saint Petersburg Metro that occurred on Monday, April 3rd, 2017 in Saint Petersburg, Russia.

The suspect has been identified as 22 year old Akbarzhon Jalilov.

Investigators said body parts of the suspect were found in the third car of the mangled train.

The Russia’s Investigative Committee said in a statement that the suspect’s DNA was found on a second, shrapnel-packed explosive device that was found at another station and safely defused.

Akbarzhon Jalilov was born in Osh, Kyrgyzstan in 1995 and had obtained Russian citizenship.

The explosion occurred at around 2:40pm Local Time (4:30am PT) aboard a Saint Petersburg Metro subway train, while inside a subway tunnel, between the Sennaya Ploschad subway station and the Tekhnologichesky Institute subway station.

According to Russia’s Health Minister Veronika Skvortsova, 14 people died in the bombing and 49 people were wounded and are still hospitalized.

Among the victims, 10 people have been named by Russia’s Investigative Committee and includes 2 teenagers and a man in his 70’s.

The bombing happened while Russian President Vladimir Putin was also in Saint Petersburg, Russia.

Nikki Haley, the United States Ambassador to the United Nations, called the attack “heartbreaking” and offered condolences to the victims and their families.

Well at a meeting with his Kyrgyz counterpart Erlan Abdyldayev, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said the bombing attack “once again shows the importance of stepping up joint efforts to combat this evil”.

Russian President Vladimir Putin offered condolences to families of the victims in the immediate aftermath of the attack.

Late Monday Night, Russian President Vladimir Putin laid flowers outside the metro subway station where the bombing occurred, before holding a meeting with his security chiefs.

Authorities in Saint Petersburg, Russia have declared 3 days of mourning as people continued to lay flowers and notes for the victims of the bombing attack.
