** Video from ZachNews on YouTube: **

Needles City Manager Rick Daniels talked about a variety of topics, including:

  • Needles City Manager Rick Daniels talked about work continuing to graveling of the slope near Dollar General, up the hill (J Street), to the Needles Aquatics Center. Primary cost is $24,000. Needles City Manager Rick Daniels ask to put that up for bid and get a firm number to bring back to members of the Needles City Council for approval.
  • Needles City Manager Rick Daniels talked about working on a Power Allocation Model, which Needles City Manager Rick Daniels wants to share with members of the Needles City Council at their next meeting. The Power Allocation Model will take a look at all of the projects that are being approved in the community, the power that each of them requiring, the capital investment that’s required, and the funds that are available to fund all that.
  • Needles City Manager Rick Daniels talked about being in Las Vegas, Nevada on a personal matter and went to an extraction manufacturing facility and met with a doctor for nuclear medicine, who ran that facility, and will be glad to give members of the Needles City Council a report at a later date about the safety and security measures that they use as they run butane, methane, propane, CO2 through the product to extract oils which is then used for creams, sabs, candies, cookies, and alike.
  • Needles City Manager Rick Daniels talked about working with an individual who is very close to making formal application for a subdivision of 60 homes at Reclamation Road and River Road (Southwest of Jack Smith Memorial Park), and down Reclamation Road closer towards the railroad tracks is an individual that’s interested in putting in an R.V. park and I encourage them to think conceptually about extending that across the street into the Bureau Bay area.
  • Needles City Manager Rick Daniels talked about resolving some issues Interstate 40/J Street (Interstate 40 / Arizona Highway 95 Connector Project); every once and awhile, an awning gets torn or a problem happens, and we’ve been dealing with those issues.

It’s a program that takes at risk youth and teaches them how to take seriously a job and get training that they could then market themselves better and improve their resume.
  • Needles City Manager Rick Daniels talked about getting a report from the County of San Bernardino, that north Needles Highway will be on the County of San Bernardino’s Board of Supervisors’ agenda for possibly on Tuesday, May 2nd, 2017 for award of bid, and they’re expecting to start construction 2 weeks after that. Needles City Manager Rick Daniels tells members of the Needles City Council that we’ve heard this before, but said that this is their current plan.
  • Needles City Manager Rick Daniels talked about the Interstate 40/J Street (Interstate 40 / Arizona Highway 95 Connector Project); we’ve had a number of changed orders where we added; they found things that additional work needed to be done, found things that we’ve taken out and we are netted about $16,000 under budget on that project. We’re about 50% percent through, but that was as of last week when this packet was prepared so that project is progressing to be completed on schedule.
