Needles, CA: Dog owner arrested after deputies find her dog deceased in a locked car.
According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, on Thursday, May 25th, 2017, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department’s Colorado River Station received a call at 10:10am PT of a dog that was found in an unattended vehicle in the parking lot of the apartment complex at 1001 Lillyhill Drive in Needles, California.
The dog appeared dead and was locked inside of a locked vehicle.
Deputies arrived and found a large Lab mix deceased inside of a parked S.U.V. with the windows rolled up and the vehicle not running.
Deputies discovered that 28 years old Dana Nelson of Needles, California returned home hours before and left the dog inside of the car with no water or way to stay cool.
Temperatures had reached over 100*F degrees by the time the dog was located.
According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, Dana Nelson was arrested for PC597(b), Cruelty to an Animal Causing Death and was booked into the Colorado River Station Jail in Needles, California with her bail set at $50,000.00.
Dana Nelson is scheduled for arraignment on Tuesday, May 30th, 2017 in Victorville Superior Court in Victorville, California.
