News Alert!!: California: California’s Electronic Benefit Transfer (E.B.T.) cards will not be available for 24 hours starting Saturday night.
Recipients of food and cash benefits from California’s public assistance programs will not be able to use their Electronic Benefit Transfer (E.B.T.) cards for 24 hours, from 11:00pm PT on Saturday, June 23rd, 2018 to 11:00pm PT on Sunday, June 24th, 2018, because of a planned statewide system outage.
According to the officials of the California Department of Social Service, people who have this card will not be able to make cash withdrawals or make food purchases after 11:00pm PT on Saturday, June 23rd, 2018.
The California Department of Social Service is recommended that people who have these cards withdraw the money necessary to buy their food before the 24 hour closing period to receive their benefits.
According to the California Department of Social Service, customers use the card issued by the state of California to receive food assistance and cash benefits from CalFresh.
The California Department of Social Service has sent letters to people who use the Electronic Benefit Transfer to inform them about the new service that will replace the current card operator system.
The decision to change the operator was made to improve the current card system, offering the service to more ATMs without surcharges and markets to use the Electronic Benefit Transfer benefits.
The new service, being called Fidelity Information Services (FIS), is committed to providing free and limited cash withdrawals within the network and balance inquiries.
