Needles Lady Stangs Coach Manuel Calderon and the Needles Lady Stangs received a proclamation from City of Needles Mayor Edward T. Paget for winning the Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association (N.I.A.A.) Class 2A State Basketball Championship.

The proclamation was presented to the Needles Lady Stangs was held during the Needles City Council and Needles Public Utility Authority Meeting held on Tuesday, March 14th, 2017 inside the Needles City Council Chambers in Needles, California.

The Lady Stangs of Needles High School won the Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association (N.I.A.A.) Class 2A State Basketball Championship Final 2017 against Agassi Prep Stars 64 to 54 on Saturday, February 25th, 2017 inside Cox Pavilion in Las Vegas, Nevada.

City of Needles Mayor Edward T. Paget will be presenting a proclamation to Needles Lady Stangs Coach Manuel Calderon and the Needles Lady Stangs for winning the Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association (N.I.A.A.) Class 2A State Basketball Championship at the Needles City Council and Needles Public Utility Authority Meeting at 6:00pm PT on Tuesday, March 14th, 2017 inside the Needles City Council Chambers located off the J Street, next to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department’s Colorado River Station sign and flag pole, at the Needles Civic Center located at 1111 Bailey Avenue in Needles, California.

Parking is located around the Needles Civic Center just off of J Street near the Needles Recreation Center or just off of Bailey Avenue near the San Bernardino County Needles Branch Library building.

The Lady Stangs of Needles High School won the Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association (N.I.A.A.) Class 2A State Basketball Championship Final 2017 against Agassi Prep Stars 64 to 54 on Saturday, February 25th, 2017 inside Cox Pavilion in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Needles Mayor Edward T. Paget talked about the Needles Lady Stangs of Needles High School winning the Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association (N.I.A.A.) Class 2A State Basketball Championship Final 2017 with ZachNews Photojournalist Zachary A. Lopez after a Needles City Council and Needles Public Utility Authority Meeting was held on Tuesday, February 28th, 2017.

ZachNews Photojournalist Zachary A. Lopez then asked Needles Mayor Edward T. Paget about inviting the Needles Lady Stangs team to the Needles City Council Meeting to thank them for their work and suggested bringing the win home to our community.

The community of Needles, California are celebrating after the Lady Stangs of Needles High School won the Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association (N.I.A.A.) Class 2A State Basketball Championship Final 2017 against Agassi Prep Stars on Saturday, February 25th, 2017 inside Cox Pavilion in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The Girls Basketball State Championship is a part of the “2017 NIAA Girls Basketball Playoffs – 2017 NIAA Class 2A State Girls” tournament.

ZachNews Photojournalist Zachary A. Lopez broke the win on ZachNews and was at Needles High School capturing the team’s arrival and all of the celebration and

Families and friends were at Needles High School in Needles, California, with signs posted and held up, welcoming the Needles’ Lady Stangs back home.

As the team arrived off Interstate 40 in Needles, California, they were greeted by the lights and sirens of the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department and Baker Emergency Medical Service as they were escorted west on J Street, north on Bailey Avenue, east on Washington Street, and north on Park Avenue where their families and friends gathered in the Needles High School parking lot.

The team got out of the vans and were seen jumping for joy, giving hugs to their family and friends, and holding high to the crowd the championship trophy.

The team then began to all sing Queen’s “We Are The Champions”.

ZachNews spoke to the Needles’ Lady Stangs Team about the win and the moments leading up to the win.

Brenna Chavez tells ZachNews that “It felt amazing!!” wining the championship.

So many downs and backs, so much hard work, it was just unreal… it was totally earn,” said Brenna Chavez.

The Needles’ Lady Stangs Team thanked all fo their family, friends, and fans for their love and support.

ZachNews spoke to the Needles Lady Stangs Coach about the win and the moments leading up to the win.

Needles Lady Stangs Coach Manuel Calderon tells ZachNews that, “To tell you the truth, It’s probably the greatest victories I had as a coach. Tremendous group of young ladies. If tonight is any indication of how much heart they had. You know, we got down and early in the game, and they just relentlessly fought back every minute of the game until we felt that we had a good chance of winning the game and from that point, they just knew that they weren’t going to be denied. Like I said; tremendous heart, tremendous performance tonight, and I’m very proud of every single one of those individuals.”

Needles, CA: Colorado River Area Girls Softball holding sign ups at Needles Recreation Center.

The Colorado River Area Girls Softball (C.R.A.G.S.) will be holding sign ups at the Needles Recreation Center, located at 1705 J Street, in Needles, California from 6:00pm to 8:00pm PT on Wednesday, January 25th, 2017, Wednesday, February 1st, 2017, and Wednesday, February 8th, 2017.

Registration fee is $50 for the 1st player, and a sister discount for each additional sibling.

With the $50 fee, every player will receive a team shirt and matching socks.

The player is responsible for providing her own softball pants.

Cleats are recommended, but are not required.

Girls ages between 7 years old and 14 years old (League age is determined by player’s age on  Sunday, January 1st, 2017).

Parents or guardians are being asked to please bring a birth certificate to sign ups.

Players will be required to participate in Skills and Drills being held on Tuesday, February 21st, 2017 at Franz Flowers Field, located on J Street across from the Needles Recreation Center, in Needles, California.

At 6:00pm PT: U10 (League Ages 7-10) and at 7:00pm PT: U14 (League Ages 11-14).

Late registration will cost $60 to sign up on Tuesday, February 21st, 2017.
