Laughlin, NV: The 2017 Polaris RZR UTV World Championship begins today.

The 2017 Polaris RZR UTV World Championship, powered by Monster Energy, is being held from Thursday, April 13th, 2017 to Saturday, April 15th, 2017 in Laughlin, Nevada.

Polaris RZR UTV World Championship is an epic race for Best In The Desert, in collaboration with our Mad Media and UTV Underground partners; we are proud to bring you this great event for UTV’s, Motorcycles and Quads.

** On Thursday, April 13th, 2017: **

  • From 9:00am to 3:00pm PT: At the Riverside Resort and Casino’s South Parking Lot: Tech and Contingency Vendor Set Up.
  • At 5:00pm PT: At the Riverside Resort and Casino’s South Parking Lot: Pit Crew Challenge.

The UTV World Championship begins Thursday night at The Riverside Resort with the first annual UTV World Championship Pit Crew Challenge. The top UTV teams will battle head to head for thousands of dollars in cash and prizes.

  • At 7:00pm PT: Loser’s Lounge – Riverside Resort and Casino: UTVWC Official Kick Off-Party:

Immediately following the pit crew challenge will be the official UTV World Championship kick-off party at the Losers’ Lounge inside the Riverside Resort Hotel & Casino.

** On Friday, April 14th, 2017: **

  • From 8:00 am to 10:45am PT: Race Track: Family Fun Poker Run:

The 3rd Annual UTV World Championship Poker Run will also be held Friday.

This is a one of a kind opportunity for UTV owners to drive their UTVs on the UTV World Championship race course! Onsite registration will be held at Don’s Celebrity Theatre inside the beautiful Riverside Resort and Casino.

Entries are extremely limited those wishing to participate are encouraged to get in line early.

Advance sign-up is available through Best in the Desert Racing Association by visiting their Best in the Desert website.

Thousands of dollars in cash and prizes will be given out to the drivers with the top poker hands!

  • From 9:00am to 5:00pm PT: Riverside Resort and Casino’s South Parking Lot: Tech and Contingency:

On Friday, the world’s biggest off road UTV festival, the UTV World Championship Tech and Contingency, will take over the Riverside Resort Hotel & Casino.

Those in attendance will be able to view the largest collection of UTV’s in the world and have exclusive access to the latest parts and accessories from the top UTV parts manufactures from around the globe.

This is a fantastic chance for UTV owners to save hundreds on OEM and aftermarket parts for their machines!

The race vehicles will be on display as hundreds of UTV race teams parade them through a massive vendor set-up.

Official UTV World Championship merchandise will be available and racers will be on hand to sign autographs and and take pictures!

  • At 4:00pm PT: Tech and Contingency: UTVWC Contingency Raffle:

The UTVWC Contingency Raffle will include over $50,000 in prizes.

** On Saturday, April 15th, 2017: **

  • At 6:30am PT: Race Track: Motorcycle and Quad Race.
  • At 10:00am PT: Race Track: Desert UTV World Championship Race.
  • At 2:30pm PT: Race Track: Youth Production 170 and Unlimited 250 UTV World Championship Race.
  • At 3:15pm PT: Race Track: Short Course UTV World Championship Race.
  • From 7:00pm to 9:00pm PT: Harrah’s Beach: Awards Ceremony Party.
  • At 9:00pm PT: Loser’s Lounge at Riverside Resort and Casino: UTVWC After Party.

The race track is located north of Bruce Woodbury Drive, west of Thomas Edison Drive, and south of Laughlin Highway.

The races will begin just to the northwest of the intersection of Thomas Edison Drive and Bruce Woodbury Drive.

The race track route includes 2 crossing along Needles Highway.

Needles Highway, between Bruce Woodbury Drive and Laughlin Highway will be closed during the races, and motorists will be detoured to either Thomas Edison Drive or South Casino Drive.

All events at the UTV World Championship are “FREE” and the family friendly atmosphere promises to be a great event for all in attendance.

The powerful storm that has been moving across southern California is approaching communities along the Colorado River.

ZachNews has spotting on the weather radar moderate rain from the powerful storm just west of Goffs, California and moving north into Nipton, California.

Gusty winds are occurring as well as rain is falling in Needles, California.

ZachNews has also spotting on the weather radar moderate to heavy rain from the powerful storm west of Blythe, California and moving along the Colorado River sweeping in a north direction.

The powerful storm appears to be moving is a sweeping north east direction.

People living, working, or visiting the communities of Goffs, California; Fenner, California; Needles, California; Vidal Junction, California; Havasu Landing, California; Lake Havasu City, Arizona; Parker, Arizona; Blythe, California; Topock, Arizona: Mohave Valley, Arizona; Laughlin, Nevada; and Cal-Nev-Ari, Nevada, should be ready in case of any weather related problems, including any power outages, flooding, or blowing debris.

Remember that because the powerful storm has been known to produce heavy rain, motorists driving along U.S. 95 and Route 66 should be on alert for any roadway flooding and to not driving through the flooded roadway.

Yucca, AZ: Single lane of traffic in both directions on Interstate 40 due to construction.

As you head on out to get your New Year 2017 Weekend started, a reminder to all motorists driving along Interstate 40 in the Yucca, Arizona area.

Due to construction work being done on the roadway, Interstate 40 in Yucca, Arizona, west from mile post 11.0, 1.0 miles east from Arizona State Route 95 to mile post 15.0, 5.0 miles east of Arizona State Route 95, is reduced to a single lane of traffic in both directions.

The eastbound Interstate 40 exit onto Franconia Road is closed as well as the on-ramp to eastbound Interstate 40 from Franconia Road is also closed.

The westbound Interstate 40 exit to Franconia Road is open as well as the on-ramp to westbound Interstate 40 from Franconia Road is also open.

Duration of the construction project is from 7:00am MST on Monday, September 12th, 2016 to 6:59am MST on Tuesday, Janaury 31st, 2017.

Temporary concrete barrier are being placed for road construction.

Speed reduced in the construction zone will be 45 mph and restrictions width is 16 ft.

Storm Watch 2016!!: Needles, CA: Rain arrives to start the winter season in Needles, California.

Rain arrived to start the winter season in Needles, California on Wednesday, December 21st, 2016.

The day began with light rain falling along Route 66 and at Santa Fe Park in Downtown Needles, California.

People who were out shopping at the Community Thrift Shop next door to the Needles Regional Museum were were enjoying the rain and is needed out here in the desert.

As night fell, the rain continued to fall over the parking lot and along J Street next to the Needles City Council Chambers and San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department’s Colorado River Station in Needles, California.

Well coming back from a news story, ZachNews Photojournalists Zachary A. Lopez and Branden Lopez spotted a couple with a babe get a ride to their destination thanks to a San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Deputy who spotted them walking in the rain along J Street near the new Dollar General store.

More light rain, moderate, and heavy rain will continue to move north into the Needles, California and across San Bernardino County, California, Clark County, Nevada, and Mohave County, Arizona overnight and for the next few days.

Please make sure to be prepare for any weather related problems, including having an emergency kit and a surviver kit in case of an emergency happens or if you’re stuck on the roadway in the storm or snowy conditions.

Please make sure to drive safety on the roads, highways, and interstates, especially watching out for any flooded roadways or icy roadways.

If heading to the mountains, please make sure to have your tire chains ready in case you need them.

News Update!!: Needles, CA: Pictures: Damage at the Needles Airport from powerful thunderstorm.

 

These are pictures taken by ZachNews Photojournalist Zachary A. Lopez of damage found at the Needles Airport in Needles, California caused by the very powerful thunderstorm that blew through Needles, California at around 9:44pm PT on Friday, August 26th, 2016.

Several buildings were damaged, including a trailer near the entrance to Needles Airport flipped upside down and smashed to pieces well near by another trailer was blown off its foundation.

 

A pickup truck was smashed by a tree branch well were ripped down.

 

Debris was seen entering Needles Airport over a football field length away.

 

Pieces of sheet metal from a hanger lay along the northwest side of the entree road into Needles Airport.

 

On the southeast side of the entree road into Needles Airport, a tail section of a plane, possibly a Navion aircraft, was sheared off and laying in the desert.

 

Needles Airport was operating on backup power generators until power poles were replaced.

Information obtain from the National Weather Service website shows winds at Needles Airport were over 80 mph with gust as high as possibly 132 mph.

 

 

ZachNews is awaiting more information from the National Weather Service about the powerful thunderstorm and about the high winds that blow through the Needles Airport.
