Needles, CA: Community welcomes and shows support for the Run For The Wall 2018.

The community of Needles, California welcomed and showed their support for the Run For The Wall 2018 on Wednesday, May 16th, 2018.

Hundreds of motorcycle riders were participating in the 30th Annual Run For The Wall event, this annual journey across America recognizes the sacrifices and contributions made by all veterans who have served our nation.

The organization promotes healing among all veterans and their families and friends, to call for an accounting of all Prisoners of War and those Missing in Action (P.O.W./M.I.A.), to honor the memory of those Killed in Action (K.I.A.) from all wars, and to support our military personnel all over the world.

Veterans of recent wars, those currently on Active Duty, Non-Veteran Supporters, and Patriots come together and trek across America ending on Memorial Day in Washington, District of Columbia at the Vietnam Memorial Wall where they will honor those who can’t make the ride, the fallen, the disabled and the still missing.

There are 3 routes making up this year’s Run For The Wall, the Southern Route which rides across the lower states along interstate 10 and the Midway Route and Central Route who both ride along Interstate 40 heading east until they split in New Mexico, all routes reportedly left from Ontario, California earlier that morning.

Well the Midway Route ride by Needles, California for lunch in Kingman, Arizona, the Central Route makes their stop in Needles, California.

ZachNews on Facebook was broadcasting live on Facebook as the Central Route arrived into Downtown Needles, California for a welcoming event put on by the community.

A long line of motorcycles from the Central Route began arriving along Front Street as people waved at the greeted by American flags waving and people shouting out “Thank You!” and “God Bless America!” as they went by with music played by members of the Fort Mojave Indian Tribe.

Written messages on colored American flags by students from Vista Colorado Elementary School greeted motorcycle riders as they seat down at Santa Fe Park in Downtown Needles, California to eat a delicious taco lunch provided by 19th Hole Bar and Grill and delicious cold ice cream served by The Daughters of the American Revolution (D.A.R.).

According to the Needles Chamber of Commerce, 500 veterans enjoyed the lunch served by the crew at 19th Hole Bar and Grill, who prepared 1500 tacos for the veterans.

As the motorcycle riders eat and rested, organizers along with city and county representative prepare to speak during presentations.

The welcoming event began with an opening prayer and Tatyana Medrano singing the National Anthem.

A presentation was held by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 404 Commander George DeLeon for Stanley D. Jump, World War II Veteran who joined the United States Navy in December 1st, 1944 and received the American Area Medal Ribbon, Asiatic Pacific Area Medal Ribbon, and World War II Victory Medal Ribbon.

A medals shadow box was presented to the family of Stanley D. Jump, which included daughter Wendy Puccio and granddaughter Lacy Hedrick, followed by an honor guard gun salute.

Proclamations were done afterwards by City of Needles Mayor Dr. Edward T. Paget, Phil LeJeune from 1st District San Bernardino County Supervisor Robert Lovingood’s Office, and Isis Fuentes from California State Assemblyman Jay Obernolte’s Office.

Plaques were headed out and thanks were presented by the Run For The Wall followed by drill demonstration by Reserve Officers’ Training Corps students from Mohave High School in Bullhead City, Arizona.

As the event came to a close and people said good bye to all of the motorcycle riders at Santa Fe Park, a small group of people holding American flags stand along the Five Mile Road overpass along eastbound Interstate 40 await the line of motorcycles to come by.

ZachNews on Facebook was broadcasting live on Facebook from the Five Mile Road overpass as everybody awaited the motorcycle riders.

As they approached the Five Mile Road overpass along eastbound interstate 40, vehicles including semi trucks honked their horns as people saluted and waved the American flags at the long line of motorcycle riders.

With many thanks and safe travels, the motorcycle riders with the Central Route department Needles, California and ended into Mohave County, Arizona heading to their next stop for the night in Williams, Arizona.

The community thank you for stopping into Needles, California on your journey across America for all who have served our nation and their sacrifices and contributions made for us to live in the land of the free, thank you for serving.
