The Needles Chamber of Commerce invites everyone to come out and volunteer to help clean up Jack Smith Memorial Park, located at 1001 River Road in Needles, California, starting at 9:00am PT.

Volunteers are being asked to bring gloves and they will provide bags and water.

The kick off taco dinner will be held at 5:00pm PT inside the B.P.O. Elks Lodge 1608 located at 1000 Lilyhill Drive, just south of Interstate 40 and over the D Street bridge, in Needles, California.

Come by and enjoy their always delicious tacos served up with rice, beans, and jalapeno poppers.

Taco plates are $10.00.

Check in and continental breakfast will begin at 7:00am PT and the golf tournament will start at 8:00am PT.

Players will share a lunch after the golf tournament.

Well you’re there, stop on into the new 19th Hole Bar and Grill located next to River’s Edge Golf Course inside the Golf Pro Shop.

2016 Needles Route 66 Event Flyer 2016 Final

The United States Bureau of Land Management’s Needles Field Office will host their 2nd Annual Route 66 Public Lands Cruise across the northern east portion of the Mojave Desert in San Bernardino County, California.

The event will be held in conjunction with the 8th Annual Route 66 Hot Boat and Custom Car Show, and Golf Tournament.

The Route 66 Public Lands Cruise will start between 9:00am or 10:00am PT and will involve 7 card locations.

Participants will gather at the Historic Route 66 California Gateway Site located on Five Mile Road next to Interstate 40 in Needles, California.

The route for the Route 66 Public Lands Cruise will head west of Needles, California to Essex Road near Essex, California then heading north along historic Route 66 into Goffs, California followed by heading east back into Needles, California.

Any licensed vehicle can be used in the Route 66 Public Lands Cruise.

A registration mixer for the 8th Annual Route 66 Hot Boat and Custom Car Show will be held from 12:00pm to 2:00pm PT inside the Wagon Wheel Restaurant located at 2420 Needles Highway, next to Interstate 40, in Needles, California.

Come on in and pick up your entry and parking tickets, goodie bags, t-shirts, and programs.

The Route 66 Procession, a procession of hot boats and custom cars and trucks, will be held at 4:00pm PT in the parking lot at the Needles Towne Center located at 1010 East Broadway, just off Interstate 40, in Needles, California.

Participants are being asked to line up at 3:00pm PT in the parking lot nearest to the 99 Cents Only Store at the Needles Towne Center.

The procession will rolling down historic Route 66 along East Broadway, West Broadway, Needles Highway, and River Road ending at Jack Smith Memorial Park in Needles, California.

The Route 66 Procession is motorized driving close to the posted speed limit and roads along the Route 66 Procession route will reportedly open to traffic.

But, all other motorists not participating in the Route 66 Procession should prepare for brief slow to stop traffic as the Route 66 Procession makes their way to Jack Smith Memorial Park.

Work crews for the City of Needles will be helping to make sure that the Route 66 Procession will move smoothly through intersections along the Route 66 Procession  route.

Participants are being told that nobody is to ride in trailered boats, in the back of pickups, or in other places lacking normal passenger safety considerations for licensed motor vehicles.

Following the Route 66 Procession, around 5:00pm PT, a dinner will be served up by various food vendors at Jack Smith Memorial Park located at 1001 River Road, near the Colorado River, in Needles, California.

This year, there will be a Kids Zone by Set Free Church of Needles next to the playground area at Jack Smith Memorial Park.

Entertainment by Singer Sarah Jane Jackson-Vanderpool will be making an appearance during the event on Saturday, Dry Heat will be performing during Saturday’s event from 11:00am to 2:00pm PT, and D.J. Jim Russell will be Master of Ceremonies through the other portion of the event.

Large crowd of people enjoyed the Route 66 Public Lands Cruise Poker Run, and the 7th Annual Route 66 Hot Boat and Custom Car Show, and Golf Tournament held on Friday, February 27th, 2015 and Saturday, February 28th, 2015 in Needles, California.

The 2 days of events began on Friday, February 27th, 2015 with the Bradley Chevrolet and River City Pizza Company Golf Tournament held at the River Edge Golf Course in Needles, California.

Golfers arrived to a beautiful morning of golfing on newly green grass and delicious breakfast at Scott’s River Edge Bar and Grill which faces the Colorado River.

Alan Rivera and Nate Redding won 1st Place in the team event.

Sadly, nobody won the Hole-In-One Prize for the Motor Trend Truck of the Year 2015 Chevrolet Colorado crew cab pickup truck from Bradley Chevrolet.

Everybody enjoyed the golf tournament and delicious food.

Meanwhile, the Route 66 Public Lands Cruise Poker Run began from the west in Amboy, California and from the east in needles, California driving along the historic and world famous Route 66 collecting poker cards well learning about the history of the many places and points of interests that live along Route 66.

Drivers reportedly had to go around some portions of Route 66 as work continues to repair Route 66 from massive storms in August 2014.

Later, an Early Bird Registration Mixer was held at Wagon Wheel Restaurant in Needles, California where delicious food and friendly staff welcomed participates as they registered early for the 7th Annual Route 66 Hot Boat and Custom Car Show.

Participates enjoyed the Early Bird Registration Mixer and loved the food provided by the Wagon Wheel Restaurant.

Next, participates with their hot boats, custom vehicles, and classic vehicles gathered up at the Needles Towne Center in Needles, California to get ready for the Route 66 Parade Procession.

At 4:00pm PT, the Route 66 Parade Procession began leaving the Needles Towne Center in Needles, California in route into Downtown Needles, California and heading to Jack Smith Park in Needles, California where a Community Barbecue Dinner was being held.

A long line of hot fast boats and both custom and classic vehicles roll along the historic and world famous Route 66 into Downtown Needles, California in route to Jack Smith Park.

The day ended with a Community Barbecue Dinner at Jack Smith Park near the beautiful Colorado River in Needles, California.

People lined up for the delicious barbecue dinner served by friendly volunteers from the Needles Recreation Center in Needles, California.

People enjoyed the delicious barbecue shredded pork as music played ranging from 50’s and 60’s to Country Western that all people can enjoy.

People then got to enjoy some of the fast racing vehicles as they show off their cackling skills which was loud and hot with flames.

A Beer Garden was set up near the main stage area so that people can enjoy a drink well listing to the great music.

As people enjoyed the delicious food and beer from the Beer Garden, young boys group “Minor Strut” performed as the headline entertainment during the event which many people enjoyed their rockin style and signing which got some people rocking out.

On the Colorado River, Hot fast boats speed along the Coloardo River as people lined along the sides of the Colorado River to enjoy the racing that was going on.

The day ended with a Plaques and Trophies Ceremony for the top 20 boats and cars

Bureau of Land Management (B.L.M.) announced the winners of the Route 66 Public Lands Cruise Poker Run.

A Mayor’s Choice Award was presented by City of Needles Mayor Edward T. Paget.

Sponsor’s Awards were also held.

City of Needles Mayor Edward T. Paget presented Bill B. with a City of Needles proclamation for his hard work in growing this event that is enjoyed by many people from all across the United States of America.

Needles City Manager Rick Daniels requested approval from members of the Needles City Council regarding bringing an Inland Port to Needles, California.

Needles City Manager Rick Daniels also asked members of the Needles City Council about appointing a committee to look into the Inland Port.

Accounting to Needles City Manager Rick Daniels, the Inland Port would provide freight companies access to change to rail or for vehicles that don’t meet meet California’s air quality requirements be able to switch to vehicles that do meet California’s air quality requirements.

Needles City Manager Rick Daniels added that our community is in the best location for the Inland Port for Needles, California has the interstate, highway, railroad, and airport here, and having this will help bring jobs and grow our community.
