Mohave Valley, AZ: Transformer catches on fire causing power outage.

A transformer catches on fire at the corner of King Street and Kingsley Street in Mohave Valley, Arizona causing power outage.

The fire occurred before 7:49am MST on Thursday, January 11th, 2018.

According to the Mohave Valley Fire Department, firefighters responded to the fire and put out the flames.

Utility crews with Mohave Electric Cooperative repaired the transformer and restored power to the affected area.

At this moment, unknown what caused the fire.

Mohave Valley, AZ: Investigation underway into vehicle and dumpster fires.

According to the Mohave Valley Fire Department, firefighters responded to a report of a vehicle fire with a structure endangered and a dumpster fire in the 10000 block of Mint Road in Mohave Valley, Arizona.

The fires reportedly occurred in the overnight hours of Thursday, January 11th, 2018.

Mohave Valley Fire Department as well as Fort Mohave Mesa Fire Department and San Bernardino County Fire Department responded to the fire.

The fires were put out and are under investigation.

Fort Mohave, AZ: Shop With A First Responder 2017.

Kids teamed up with first responder for the Shop With A First Responder 2017 on Saturday, December 9th, 2017 at the Walmart store in Fort Mohave, Arizona.


Kids with their families met at Valley View Medical Center in Fort Mohave, Arizona to enjoy muffins and hot chocolate until Santa Claus arrived from the North Pole by helicopter.


After having pictures with Santa Claus, each kid was given a $100 gift card and got to ride in the Fire Trucks, Ambulance, and Sheriff’s vehicles with all the lights and sirens blaring.

A total of 70 kids from all around the Colorado River Tri-State area got to shop with a first responder for gifts for the Christmas and holiday season.

Kids from the Needles, California; Fort Mohave, Arizona; Mohave Valley, Arizona; and Topock, Arizona area were part of the Shop With A First Responder 2017.


First responders participating in the Shop With A First Responder 2017 included deputies and explorers from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department’s Colorado River Station and Mohave County Sheriff’s Office, firefighters from the Mohave Valley Fire Department, Fort Mojave Mesa Fire Department, paramedic from Baker Emergency Medical Services and Careflight, and crew from the California’s Bureau of Land Management.

Thank go to Walmart in Fort Mohave, Arizona; the Rotary Club of Fort Mohave, Arizona; Valley View Medical Center in Fort Mohave, Arizona; and all the first responders who participated in the Shop With A First Responder 2017 possible.

News Update!!: Needles, CA: Injured man in traffic accident along Needles Highway has died.

ZachNews has learn that a man has died from his injuries in a traffic accident along Needles Highway, approximately 3 miles south of the Avi Resort and Casino, in Needles, California that occurred at 6:04pm PT on Sunday, November 19th, 2017.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the man identified as 65 year old Avetis Karamusan from Canyon Country, California died from his injuries after being taken to Valley View Medical Center in Fort Mohave, Arizona.

The California Highway Patrol said Avetis Karamusan was an unrestrained passenger in the vehicle.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the driver of the 2017 Toyota that was involved in the crash, identified as 42 year old Joey Karamusan from Canyon Country, California suffered major broken bones and was also taken by ambulance to taken to Valley View Medical Center in Fort Mohave, Arizona.

Another passenger in the Toyota suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to Valley View Medical Center in Fort Mohave, Arizona.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the driver of the 2017 Nissan involved in the crash, identified as 30 year old Rudy Butler from Apple Valley, California was taken to Valley View Medical Center in Fort Mohave, Arizona with moderate injuries.

At least 3 passengers from Rudy Butler’s vehicle were flown with non-life threatening injuries to Sunrise Medical Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department advised the California Highway Patrol that at least 3 vehicles are involved in the traffic accident.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the traffic accident was a “head on” crash that was blocking lanes.

Mohave Valley Fire Department along with San Bernardino County Fire Department, Fort Mohave Mesa fire department, Bullhead City Fire Department and Baker ambulance responded to the vehicle accident.

According to the Mohave Valley Fire Department, at least 8 patients were transported, including 5 patients by ground and 3 patients by air to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.

As seen in the pictures above from the Mohave Valley Fire Department, medical helicopters landed at the Avi Resort and Casino parking lot for air transport.

Tow truck crews cleaned up the damaged vehicles and reopened Needles Highway.

Family, friends, firefighters, and a community came together on Friday, November 17th, 2017 to remember the life of Mohave Valley Fire Department Firefighter Robert Michael Derichsweiler.

According to the Mohave Valley Fire Department, Firefighter Robert Michael Derichsweiler passed away suddenly on Friday, November 10th, 2017 at his home.

Family and friends arrived to a memorial service held at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Downtown Needles, California, along with firefighters from Mohave Valley Fire Department, Fort Mojave Mesa Fire Department, Bullhead City Fire Department, San Bernardino County Fire Department, Yucca Fire District, and Lake Havasu City Fire Department.

ZachNews has learned that the memorial service was touching yet celebrated the life of a good man who cared about his family and the community he served.

Afterwards, a funeral procession was held along West Broadway and East Broadway to Needles Riverview Cemetery in Needles, California.
