According to the San Francisco Police Department, 3 people have been killed and 2 people were injured after a shooting at a United Parcel Service (U.P.S.) facility in San Francisco, California on Wednesday, June 14th, 2017.
According to San Francisco Police Department Assistant Police Chief Toney Chaplin, officers responded to calls about the shooting at 8:55am PT and found a suspect armed with an assault pistol.
Officers with the San Francisco Police Department found wounded victims inside the building and brought them to safety.
According to San Francisco Police Department Assistant Police Chief Toney Chaplin, when they found the gunman, he put the weapon to his head and shot himself.
“He saw police and turned the gun on himself,” said San Francisco Police Department Assistant Police Chief Toney Chaplin adding that the shooting is not related to terrorism.
The San Francisco Police Department confirms the shooter’s identify as Jimmy Lam, a resident from San Francisco, California, and recovered 2 firearms at the scene, including a semi-automatic handgun.
United Parcel Service has confirmed that the shooter was an employee and San Francisco Police Department confirms he was wearing a United Parcel Service uniform.
San Francisco Police Department are going through the building, making sure there aren’t any other accomplices, but San Francisco Police Department said the building is secure and the shelter-in-place has been lifted.
